What it is
Alibaba's in-house AI chips, designed by its T-Head unit, aimed at training and running AI models in its own cloud. Alibaba says it plans annual upgrades.
Why it matters to the stock. In-house chips could lower Alibaba Cloud's dependence on imported accelerators and improve its margins over time. Their performance has not been independently verified.

At the Apsara Conference in Hangzhou on September 22, Alibaba unveiled the Zhenwu V900 AI processor from its T-Head chip unit, which it says delivers three times the performance of the M890 with 216 GB of memory.
