800 VDC data center power

Bloom says its fuel cells can supply 800-volt DC power directly, which NVIDIA's future rack designs call for. No commercial launch date has been given.

What it is

Bloom's fuel cells produce direct current at 800 volts, so the power can go to AI racks without AC-to-DC conversion. NVIDIA has specified 800 VDC for its Rubin Ultra and Kyber rack architecture starting in 2027. Bloom's own estimates say the design could cut non-compute capital spending for a 1 GW data center by $3.6 billion, or 27%.

Why it matters to the stock. If data centers switch to DC architectures, equipment that generates DC on site could win share from AC gear. Bloom's savings figures are its own model, not audited results, and actual savings will depend on site design and costs.
