What it is
SkyWater runs a U.S. semiconductor foundry and packaging business. IonQ bought it to build quantum chips in-house. SkyWater will keep serving its existing foundry customers.
Why it matters to the stock. Owning a domestic foundry removes a supply bottleneck for quantum chips and adds a large non-quantum revenue base. Its results sit inside the 2026 guidance only from July 31.
