What it is
High-speed wired connectivity, custom silicon and chiplets from Alphawave Semi, acquired for an implied enterprise value reported at about $2.4 billion. Qualcomm says the unit adds connectivity expertise for its Oryon CPU and Hexagon NPU products and for its data-center push.
Why it matters to the stock. The deal gives Qualcomm in-house high-speed interconnect for rack-scale AI systems, which is a gap it had to fill to compete in data centers.
