What it is

TSMC's US build-out in Arizona. Fab 1 is in high-volume production. Fab 2 is targeted for high-volume manufacturing in the second half of 2027, with management saying it is accelerating schedules. Construction of a third fab began in 2025. On the 2Q26 call TSMC announced an additional US$100 billion for Arizona, covering wafer fabs for 2nm and below and advanced packaging, with no timing given.

Why it matters to the stock. The Arizona timeline sets how much leading-edge output sits outside Taiwan. It is a recurring source of tariff and policy headlines for the whole sector, and the extra US$100 billion raises the stakes on the 2027-2028 schedule.
