24/7 price vs official price
Round-the-clock trading prices versus the closing or settlement price that markets officially record for the day.
Some assets trade around the clock, such as crypto and tokenized assets. Others have a fixed session with an official closing price, such as US stocks, which close at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time, or a daily settlement price for futures. The official price is the one that exchanges, indices and many contracts use for their records.
On our site, the 24/7 price is the live quote at any hour. The official price is labeled separately and is the figure used for the daily change and for benchmarks. Between sessions the two can differ, and the gap is a signal, not a record.
Traders care because overnight moves in a 24/7 market can be large, and the next official close may start from a different level. Know which price a chart or alert is using.
Worked example (illustrative numbers, not real data): a tokenized stock trades at 102.00 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, while its last official close was 100.00. The 24/7 price shows a 2 percent move, but the official daily change will not reflect it until the next session's close.
