Caterpillar names CEO Joe Creed chairman as Umpleby retires

Caterpillar said D. James Umpleby III will retire as Executive Chairman and as a board member effective April 1, 2026. CEO Joe Creed will then take over as Chairman of the Board. The change completes the leadership handover that began when Creed became CEO on May 1, 2025.
