Quarterly provisions for doubtful accounts nearly double to $1.28 billion

MercadoLibre's quarterly report for the period ended June 30, 2026 shows the provision for doubtful accounts rose to $1,276 million from $690 million a year earlier. Loans receivable, net, reached about $12.0 billion at June 30 against $9.4 billion at December 31, 2025, and credit card receivables grew to about $8.5 billion from $7.0 billion. Credit losses are therefore climbing with the lending book, which is one of the main pressures on the company's margins.

  • Q2 provision for doubtful accounts: $1,276 million vs $690 million
  • Six-month provision: $2,520 million vs $1,293 million
  • Loans receivable, net: about $11,996 million vs $9,365 million at year-end 2025
  • Credit card receivables, net: about $8,519 million vs $7,046 million at year-end 2025
  • Q2 net income $466 million vs $523 million a year earlier
