EU committee backs Wegovy pill, the first oral GLP-1 for weight management

The European Medicines Agency's CHMP gave a positive opinion on 22 May 2026 for the Wegovy pill, a once-daily oral semaglutide 25 mg for weight management. The opinion rests on the OASIS 4 trial, where patients lost 16.6% of body weight on average, and the label includes SELECT cardiovascular data. A CHMP opinion is a recommendation, and the European Commission makes the final decision.
