US economy added 50k jobs in December; unemployment rate 4.4%

The Bureau of Labor Statistics' Employment Situation report showed nonfarm payrolls rose by 50,000 in December 2025 and the unemployment rate was 4.4%. Average hourly earnings rose 0.3% on the month.
