Reddit to join S&P 500 on August 18, replacing AvalonBay after its acquisition by Equity Residential

S&P Dow Jones Indices announced on August 13, 2026 that Reddit will join the S&P 500 before the open on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Reddit replaces AvalonBay Communities, which is being acquired by Equity Residential, also an S&P 500 member. The change is an off-cycle replacement, so index funds tracking the S&P 500 must buy Reddit shares as the index changes.
