Google releases Gemini 3.6 Flash; Gemini 3.5 Pro still absent

Google launched Gemini 3.6 Flash on July 21, 2026, alongside Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber. The model is aimed at efficiency, with about 17% fewer output tokens on the Artificial Analysis Index and up to 65% fewer on some DeepSWE runs, and it keeps a 1 million-token context window. Gemini 3.5 Pro, the delayed flagship, was not part of the launch.
