TSMC petitions USPTO board to invalidate patents asserted in US ITC chip case

TSMC has filed a petition with the USPTO's Patent Trial and Appeal Board arguing that patents asserted by Longitude Licensing and Marlin Semiconductor are invalid. Both are Dublin-based units of IPValue Management, and their complaint at the US International Trade Commission could lead to an exclusion order barring imports of infringing chips. Taiwan's IP office said TSMC may argue the patents were published before they were filed.
