How it makes money
Home Depot sells through its stores and online, and through SRS and GMS to professional contractors. Retail sales depend on housing turnover, home repair and remodel spending, and big-ticket product demand. Its fiscal 2025 operating margin was 12.7%, down from 13.5%, while the 10-K says sales growth was driven mainly by the SRS and GMS acquisitions. Gross margin guidance for fiscal 2026 is about 33.1% and operating margin guidance is 12.4% to 12.6%. Fiscal 2026 guidance calls for total sales growth of 2.5% to 4.5% and comparable sales growth of flat to 2.0%. Capital spending is guided at about 2.5% of sales.
