The numbers
What it is
Sandisk's three joint ventures with Kioxia, collectively called Flash Ventures, operate eight NAND fabs in Japan, six in Yokkaichi and two in Kitakami. Sandisk holds 49.9% of each entity and buys the wafers they produce.
Why it matters to the stock. Wafer supply sets how many bits Sandisk can sell. Capacity decisions and the payments to Kioxia shape capital spending and margins for years, so supply announcements from either company move the stock.
