GE Vernova completes $5.3B purchase of Prolec GE, taking full ownership of transformer maker
GE Vernova completed its purchase of the 50% of Prolec GE it did not already own, from its former joint venture partner Xignux, for $5.275 billion. The price was funded with an equal mix of cash and debt. Prolec GE has about 10,000 employees and seven plants in the Americas, five of them in the US, and it now sits inside the Electrification segment. Transformers are one of the tightest bottlenecks in grid and data-center build-outs, so the deal adds direct control of that capacity.
