Marvell unveils second-generation Structera X CXL 3.2 memory expanders, sampling in Q1 2027

Marvell announced second-generation Structera X 3406 and 3506 CXL 3.2 memory expanders, which it calls the industry's first six-channel CXL 3.2 memory expanders for AI inference. The controllers are expected to sample in Q1 2027. The company claims up to 40-50% faster time to first token for LLM serving compared with the prior generation.

• Six DDR4/DDR5 memory channels, 50% more than the prior generation, plus PCIe Gen 6
• Structera X 3406 supports up to 9TB; Structera X 3506 supports up to 6TB
• Shares memory across up to four hosts with up to 256GB/s PCIe 6.0 x16 host bandwidth
• Claimed 40-50% faster time to first token for LLM serving and up to 2x higher DLRM queries per second
• Expected to sample in Q1 2027
