AMD and Microsoft expand Azure deal to deploy Helios racks

AMD and Microsoft announced an expanded collaboration to deploy AMD Helios rack-scale systems on Azure, mainly for frontier model inference. Azure is also adding two EPYC 'Venice' VM series and expanding its use of AMD Pensando DPUs. The release gives no dollar value or gigawatt figure for the Azure deal.

  • Helios on Azure built on Instinct MI455X GPUs, EPYC Venice CPUs, Pensando networking and ROCm
  • New Azure VM series: HDv2 (agentic AI and data pipelines) and HXv2 (semiconductor design)
  • AMD plans to begin shipping Helios to customers, including Microsoft, in the second half of 2026
  • No dollar value or GW figure disclosed for the Azure expansion
