TSMC unveils A13, A12 and N2U roadmap at North America Technology Symposium
At its North America Technology Symposium in Santa Clara on April 22, TSMC announced A13, an optical shrink of A14 with about 6% smaller area, and A12, an A14-based node with Super Power Rail backside power. Both are scheduled for production in 2029. It also added N2U, a 2nm-family option for 2028 that gives 3-4% more speed or 8-10% lower power than N2P.
- A13: direct shrink of A14 with about 6% area savings, production in 2029
- A12: adds Super Power Rail backside power for AI and HPC, production in 2029
- N2U: 3-4% speed gain or 8-10% power reduction over N2P, production in 2028
- CoWoS 5.5-reticle size in production; 14-reticle version slated for 2028
- COUPE co-packaged optics to begin production in 2026
