Supreme Court denies Apple's emergency stay of Epic contempt order

Justice Elena Kagan denied Apple's emergency application on May 6, 2026, which had asked the Court to pause the Ninth Circuit's civil contempt ruling over App Store commissions on outside purchases. Apple filed the application on May 4. The contempt finding stays in place, so the case returns to Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, who will decide what commission, if any, Apple can charge.
