Instinct MI500 Series

The successor to the MI400 Series, built on the CDNA 6 architecture, TSMC 2nm and HBM4E memory according to AMD's January 2026 CES release. AMD says it is on track for up to a 1,000x AI performance increase versus the MI300X, based on engineering projections that are subject to change.

Why it matters to the stock. MI500 decides whether AMD keeps a yearly cadence of rack-scale AI platforms against Nvidia's roadmap. OpenAI has publicly said it is excited about the generation.
