GE Vernova makes gas and steam power equipment, wind turbines, grid and electrification equipment, and nuclear technology, and sells long-life services for all of them. It became independent from General Electric in April 2024 when the spin-off completed. Its three segments are Power, Wind and Electrification, and its backlog was $176 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2026. The gas turbine business is the main driver of Power orders and backlog.
How it makes money
GE Vernova sells large, long-cycle equipment such as gas turbines, wind turbines, transformers, switchgear and grid software to utilities, independent power producers and industrial customers. It books orders as equipment and services backlog that converts to revenue over several years, so results depend on how fast it can build and ship. Services on the installed base add recurring revenue. Gas turbine slot reservation agreements secure future manufacturing capacity ahead of firm orders.
