Chevron is a US integrated energy company. It produces crude oil and natural gas in the US, Kazakhstan, Guyana, Australia and other countries, runs LNG and gas-processing assets, and refines, markets and sells fuels, lubricants and petrochemicals. Its 2025 10-K reports total revenues and other income of $189.0 billion. The July 2025 Hess acquisition added Guyana assets and US production, and the company's near-term story rests on Permian and Gulf of America output growth, cost cuts and refinery runs.
How it makes money
Chevron earns most of its money from selling crude oil, natural gas and NGLs from its Upstream business, which is the bulk of its profit. The Downstream business refines crude into fuels and petrochemicals and sells them through its own marketing network and to third parties. Its growth plan is to lift production from low-cost assets (Permian, Gulf of America, Tengiz, Guyana), cut structural costs, and build new cash streams from power for data centers and lower-carbon businesses.
